I think this one looks pretty good given your style. ^_^ I might suggest experimenting with a tad more highlights in her eyes. That little glint of light does wonders in giving life to a characters eyes and even helping you to tell where shes looking. I really like the effect that blue cuff has in contrast with the orange... I would suggest using something similar on the other cuff and perhaps even on the knees to really have it all match.

I was also thinking that also initially but thought that might have been the look you were going. which if it is than its Jake. ^_^ I find having a reference when doing a drawing helps tremendously... it also helps to get those creative juices flowing... even a drawing you don't like can show you what not to do. This place has thousands of awesome images keep one or two open when your design something new to help keep certain anatomical points in mind. ^_~

How do I design my own character? Hmm Let me think. I guess initially I think up what sort of character I want it to be. What their personality might be... Then I experiment initially by drawing the character from the torso up. If I can think of any characters with similar features to the one I want to draw I'll try looking it up real quick. I often find that if I have absolutely no references at all that my piece looks worst of because of it.

A useful trick you can use too is turning your piece upside down every so often or just hold it at arms length. To give your self a new perspective. You'd be surprised how many blatant errors you can catch by doing that. ^_^() Then again u seem to work mainly on the computer so you might just have to adjust the zoom periodically.

The trickiest part is picking clothing and hair. my characters always seem to be a bit on the bland side... maybe i should examine some fashion magazines. ^_^()

 same ere. U knoe i hav few magazines of hairstyle, fashion and also those girly pic jst to get few ideas of posers and also wat kinda hairstyle.

It is preety difficult to try imagine ure self wat kind of hairstyle u would like to put on ure character, but i usually hav like light skecth try to draw the certain hairstyle then if i dont like it i can quickly rub out without wrecking the paper. And also it's good that u draw the picture big enuf. :)
